Havaianas was formed in Brazil in 1962 and was inspired by Japanese Zori sandals; a sandal with fabric straps and a woven straw sole. Havaianas replaced this straw material with premium Brazilian rubber, updated the design to look fashionable, and the rest is history! This is why the sole of the Havaianas has a grain of rice print; one of many design details that make Havaianas unique.
